Femitas' AU
In this AU, the very first noticeable aspect is, obviously, Vanitas is a girl. You see, here, Vanitas is the literal Yin to Ven’s Yang. She took on feminine aspects physically. As Master Xehanort didn’t care about who or what Vanitas was other than Darkness, she was allowed to be this feminine aspect.
The other aspect of the AU comes in her defeat. Instead of being absorbed by Ven’s heart once more, she is outright rejected and forced back out into the worlds, left in the Graveyard. However, her connection with Ventus allowed her to portal to him once she was back to her senses, and she has been waiting for him to wake up, not knowing what else to do. She has realized that his rejection of her heart is likely to go both ways, but knows no other way of life than to follow Ventus.
She has spent the last ten years caring for Ventus, and this has altered her line of thinking from being a fighter to being a caregiver. So when the activity at Castle Oblivion cropped up and then ended, she ventured out to search and came across the still-living Riku Replica. When her challenge was met not with resistance, but visible pain, she healed the girl and asked a question: “Who are you?”
When there was no direct answer, they talked a bit longer, and Vanitas heard what she needed and lured the replica into a world room where she allowed her one hit. Her arm was severed, but quickly regrown through her own curative magic and then Vanitas quickly knocked her out.
A week later, after the replica woke up healed, Vanitas began to train her. She had her focus on learning to dodge and block as well as learning to focus her attacks. That day, she also gave the replica the name Dawn. Training continued, and after a week, she allowed the girl to leave, citing that she had grown significantly. However, she also gave her three Floods as companions so the journey would not be lonely.
That night, Vanitas returned to the room where Ventus lie sleeping. For a few moments, their hearts connected again—for the first time in years—and Ventus told her it was time to move on. She cited her own fears, and after a time, gave in and decided she would follow Dawn the next morning. After sleeping, she went to wait for her, and the two departed together.
On the pathway to an area with more light (to prevent an ambush of Heartless in the dark corridors), they were followed by a large Heartless that Vanitas quickly ended. Now they just walked, and when they finally reached a safe point, they portaled to Radiant Garden to begin their journey…
